30x Optical Zoom / 60x Clear Image Zoom

Extend your reach to the max with this fast 27 mm – 810 mm f/2.8-5.6 Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T* lens. The 30x magnification range is nothing short of incredible, allowing you to zoom up to distant subjects while still maintaining the clarity that only optical zoom can provide. Its 11-element 10-group design includes both ashperical and super-high-refractive (SHR) index elements, vastly reducing aberrations that occur at extreme focal lengths and delivering unrivalled performance over the entire zoom range. The lens also exhibits virtually no curvature of field (which causes distortion in wide-angle shots) for expansive landscapes and cityscapes with perfectly straight horizons. And thanks to the Exmor R CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processing, you'll see just what this lens can do, revealing minute details and obtaining natural, life-like colours in both photos and movies. What's more, a close-focus distance of only 1 cm lets you shoot stunning close-ups!

Sony's original By Pixel Super Resolution technology assists Cyber-shot in zooming up to 60x* without decreasing pixel count, giving photos a crisp, high-resolution feel that is nearly identical to optical zoom. Cyber-shot first zooms optically to the maximum optical magnification, then employs By Pixel Super Resolution technology to enlarge the image an additional 2x, producing sharp, clear images despite the increased zoom ratio. And by combining this function with Digital Zoom, up to 120x zoom* can be achieved without sacrificing image quality! Moreover, Cyber-shot's ultra high-sensitivity capability and high-speed AF deliver DSLR-quality images even in dimly lit settings.

Zoom functions other than the optical zoom are not available when shooting in the following situations: • In [ISweep Panorama] • In [Picture Effect] • In [Background Defocus] • When the Smile Shutter function is activated. • When [Self-Timer] is set to [Self-portrait One Person] or [Self-portrait Two People]. • When [Backlight Correction HDR] mode is selected in Scene Selection. • The Face Detection function does not operate when you use zoom methods other than optical zoom.
